What Trump said in Florida
Donald Trump raised the prospect of a renewed Trump Iran strike on Friday, telling a rally in Florida about the war with Iran that the United States may attack again. "We may do another little Epic Fury," Trump said in remarks at a rally in Florida as he spoke about the war.
We may do another little Epic Fury
The name refers to Operation Epic Fury, the joint Israeli-American military operation that sparked the war with Iran at the end of February.
Timing around the midterms
The remark came as two pressures converge, according to the report:
- •the war is nearing its eight-month mark
- •rising fuel prices weigh on the US midterm elections
The US congressional elections fall on November 3.
Diplomacy deadlocked
Trump did not elaborate on the remark. He has previously signalled an openness to resuming strikes after a long deadlock in diplomacy, but not before the US congressional elections on November 3.
